The Fairground Craft and Design Centre CIC is pleased to support Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air ambulance. Their Helicopter is based nearby at Thruxton Airfield and we host one of their clothes recycling bins. The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is a charity relying 100% on the good will of the general public to raise the £92,000 each month that is needed to run the service. On average the helicopter, which is based at Thruxton, is called out between 3 and 6 times every day. We raised funds at the 2009 Michaelmas Fair and a cheque was handed over to them.

Andover & District Mencap

The 2010 Michaelmas Fair, on 25th & 26th September, will be used to raise money for the Andover & District Mencap. Their mission is to support people with a learning disability to improve their quality of life, through enabling them to live as normal a life as possible, helping them to exploit their strengths and enabling them to reach their full potential.

As well as Mencap's own volunteers fundraising and selling merchandise at the event, we are looking for "Friends of the Fairground" who could run stalls such as a coconut shy, sell ice cream or candy floss or help out in the general running or preparation of the event.

The Fairground invite community groups to get involved in the Michaelmas Fair, splitting money raised between their group or charity and the Andover & District Mencap. Please phone Wendy on 01264 773438 for more details.

The Fairground is built on the original site of the Weyhill Fair which ran for centuries until 1959. Each year at Michaelmas we celebrate our local history and are always pleased to hear people's stories about the original Weyhill Fair. If you have any memories or pictures of the Fair it would be great to hear from you. Please contact us on 01264 773438.
