What’s Coming Up in June at The Sheep Shed Gallery and Tearoom...

June looks set to be an exciting and full-on month for The Sheep Shed Gallery; with 3 exhibitions, 3 workshops, Father’s Day, the launch of new menu options in the Tearoom and the usual day-to-day trade to contend with, we’re embracing the busyness and hoping there’s some sunshine to go with it!

The Sheep Shed Gallery & Tearoom

Opening 29th May, we have Ken Rich’s exhibition of photographs in the exhibition ‘Parallax: the alternate view’. Ken is a local photographer who always manages to catch the moments that normal people would completely bypass on their day to day travels.

Ken’s exhibition runs from 29th May to 9th June. Admission is free!

Monday 4th June

We have a first for The Gallery... A Delft-Style tile painting workshop with Woolton-Hill based artist, Piet van den Beuken. Roelofs and Rubens (Piet’s business) is one of our best-selling ranges within the Gallery, so it makes complete sense to run a workshop which allows our customers to learn more about the products on display and how they are created.

The workshop will run from 10am to 1pm on Monday 4th and costs £40 per person (this cost includes all materials, firing and tile delivery plus tea and coffee on the day). There are still a couple of places left on this workshop. To sign yourself up, send us an email at sheepshedgallery@gmail.com or call us on 01264 773838.

Sunday 10th June

We will be hosting our first Modern Calligraphy workshop in conjunction with Sunita Auger from GloryLetteringStudio. In this 3-hour workshop, Sunita will teach you how to master the basics of Modern Calligraphy, how to handle and efficiently use a dip-pen and how to craft each stroke with your pen. The workshop will run from 10am to 1pm on Sunday 10th June and costs £40per person (this cost includes a starter kit for each participant, consisting of a dip pen, ink, paper and a 16-page workbook too).

We still have 3 places left on this workshop. To sign yourself up, send us an email at sheepshedgallery@gmail.com or call us on 01264 773838.

Opening Tuesday 12th June

We have the latest exhibition of Textile Arts by Weyhill artist Sarah Maddison (SixtyFourPackingCases). ‘The Earth has Music’ is Sarah’s 3rd exhibition here at The Sheep Shed and always proves popular with our customers and her followers. Creating landscapes and other scenes out of fabric, Sarah’s works are a real sight to behold and the exhibition is definitely not one to be missed! The exhibition runs from 12th June to 23rd June. Admission is free!

Also, on Tuesday 12th June, we have an Introduction to Watercolour painting workshop with tutor Maureen Bond. This workshop is perfect for complete beginners, as well as those who have previously tried and failed at using Watercolour paints. Maureen is an excellent tutor who will work with you to create pieces of work that master both the paint-stly and the colours that watercolours can offer artists. This workshop will run from 10am to 1pm on Tuesday 12th June and will cost £35 per person.

We still have 2 places left on this workshop, so if you are interested in joining let us know as soon as you can! Email us at sheepshedgallery@gmail.com or call us on 01264 773838.

Sunday 17th June is Father’s Day, and so it’s time to start getting those gifts ready for Dads, Grandfathers, Uncles and all the special men in our family lives. We have a great selection of gifts for men available in the Gallery; plus buying from us ensures that you are supporting independent artists and businesses whilst grabbing a great present for your loved ones. From hand-turned wooden pens to cufflinks, leather-bound notebooks and much more on offer, there’s something for everyone!

Opening 26th June will be ‘Hidden and Revealed’, the latest exhibition of works by the Challenge Art group. With works by a number of local artists who get together to learn from each other and gain advice on arts and crafts; there are a mix of media types on display so it’s not an exhibition to miss out on!

As you can see, June is a busy one for us but we would absolutely love to see you all, whether it be for a workshop, visiting an exhibition or simply to browse the gifts on display whilst satisfying your tastebuds with our delicious cakes and teas; everyone is welcome here and we look forward to seeing you all throughout June!
